Seaweed for fuel and other sustainable fuel ideas

I found this interesting article on the science pages of the BBC - (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/7690973.stm.) It proposes using seaweed as a sustainable source of fuel for homes and vehicles...Seems like a great idea and a good opportunity for the Scottish economy though i hope the seaweed would be grown in a native environment and would not destroy native habitats ( like farmed seafood can)..It also got me thinking about other possible sources of energy. Australia is slowly grasping onto the idea of solar energy ...bloody hell, we should have invented them..!..."Its a no brainer", as my colleague would say and it isn't so expensive these days (http://www.environment.gov.au/settlements/renewable/pv/index.html ) once you get your mega rebate back (http://www.environment.gov.au/settlements/renewable/pv/index.html.) Though for the gazillion people like me in rented accommodation its not so possible to just install solar panels....So could we develop mobile solar units that we could easily transport from house to house or actually anywhere?...how great would it be to have a portable solar panel you could use to heat your bbq or disco lights (?), or whatever...as long as you didnt need a fuel guzler to transport it everywhere...I read an article a few months ago pushing solar panel swimmers to power mobile phones. cute idea but a bit gimmicky and not exactly a cure for depleting fuel reserves..and I most definately hope they are not marketed as such!

Keeping people down

The >9-5.-Is making sure people are overworked and tired a government's 21st century initiative to keep people from standing up for radical change?

Drugs and alcohol- hangovers and come downs, limits productivity.good for keeping a society in check?

Shite American films- dont challenge the mind/encourage difference

Would reducing all of the above lead to more fulfillment in life?
Thoughts...?
